2007 Nobel Prize in Physics

The 2007 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to Albert Fert and Peter Gr├╝nberg for Giant Magnetoresistance, or GMR. This is one of those discoveries that really matters, given that it's how hard drive read heads work. I was kind of hoping for a Stanford win (Andre Linde is always one of the people on the short list
